The Hidden Concern With Ozone: You're Breathing the Same Gas Being Used to Fight Odor
Ozone generators have been marketed to hunters as a breakthrough in scent control. Turn on a machine, generate ozone, and let the gas react with human odor before deer can detect it.
It sounds like a great concept. But there's something every hunter should understand before running an ozone generator inside an enclosed hunting blind.
Ozone is a gas. And breathing ozone can be harmful to your health.
Ozone (O₃) is made up of three oxygen atoms. Unlike the oxygen (O₂) we breathe to survive, ozone is a highly reactive gas that can irritate and damage lung tissue.
That same chemical reactivity that allows ozone to interact with certain odor molecules is also what makes inhaling it a concern.
When ozone enters the respiratory system, it can react with the tissues lining your airways. Exposure can cause coughing, throat irritation, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, and reduced lung function.
Higher concentrations and longer exposure times increase the potential for harm.

Now Think About Running That Generator Inside a Hunting Blind
A hunting blind is a confined space, especially when the windows are partially closed to block wind, rain, or cold temperatures.
If an ozone generator releases gas into that environment, the ozone may accumulate depending on the generator's output, ventilation, and operating conditions.
And here's the problem.
The hunter is breathing the same air into which the machine is releasing ozone.
You can't assume an ozone concentration is safe simply because you can't smell it. You also can't assume the gas is being carried away from the blind without measuring airflow and exposure.
Ozone can be useful in certain industrial and commercial applications when appropriate engineering controls and safety procedures are followed.
But deliberately generating ozone in an occupied, poorly ventilated hunting blind creates an avoidable inhalation concern.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency warns that ozone generators can produce indoor ozone concentrations that pose health risks, and that ozone levels considered safe for people are generally ineffective at controlling many indoor air contaminants.
That's something worth considering before relying on an ozone generator during a long hunt.
And Safety Isn't the Only Limitation
Ozone systems also come with practical challenges in the field.
Noise:
Some generators use fans that produce a continuous hum. Depending on the equipment and hunting conditions, that introduces another potential source of unwanted sound.
Power dependency:
Batteries can drain, electrical components can fail, and cold weather can affect battery performance.
Limited operating conditions:
Ozone effectiveness depends on airflow, concentration, contact time, and the odor compounds present. Running a generator doesn't guarantee every odor molecule will be neutralized.
Equipment requirements:
You're depending on an additional electronic device to operate correctly throughout the hunt.
And perhaps most importantly, ozone generators are primarily designed around odor management.
Unlike a conventional field-operated ozone generator, WRAITH draws on a patented surface-treatment approach. U.S. Patent No. 12,509,641 B1, issued December 30, 2025, describes a composition involving 30,000PPM Ionic silver and copper water, zeolite, activated carbon, silicone dioxide and ozone for treating articles.
They aren't designed to address the broader material properties being investigated through WRAITH's 4-Way SENSE technology.
WRAITH Takes a Different Approach
At WRAITH, we believe hunters shouldn't have to depend on continuously generating a reactive gas inside their hunting environment to manage odor.
But here's something that makes WRAITH particularly interesting.
We haven't ignored ozone technology. We've incorporated ozone treatment into our own formulation process.
Harnessing Ozone Chemistry Without Running an Ozone Generator in the Field

Ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent capable of reacting with certain odor-producing compounds. That's one reason it has attracted attention in odor-control technology.
Rather than depending on a generator releasing ozone gas around the hunter, WRAITH incorporates an ozone-treatment stage during the preparation of our proprietary mineral-based formulation.
During this process, ozone is generated and introduced into the formulation under controlled production conditions.
The treated material becomes part of WRAITH's concentrated powder, which hunters later mix with water and apply to their clothing, boots, packs, and compatible hunting equipment.
We're moving the ozone-treatment process out of the hunting blind and into the manufacturing process.
That's an important distinction.
Traditional ozone generators require an active machine producing ozone gas during use. WRAITH doesn’t.
There's no need to sit beside a running ozone generator, monitor batteries, or depend on a fan circulating gas while you're hunting.
The ozone-treatment process is performed before the product ever reaches the hunter.
Our objective is to use ozone chemistry to influence the properties of our mineral formulation while avoiding the need for hunters to generate ozone gas in their immediate environment.
The result is a completely different approach to product development and field application.
The method addresses surface-treatment applications involving infrared (IR), ultraviolet (UV), and electromagnetic-related detection. WRAITH’s 4-Way SENSE development builds on this technology while continuing to evaluate practical performance in hunting conditions.
We're not asking hunters to breathe ozone to benefit from our formulation technology.
More Than Ozone. More Than Scent Control.

What separates WRAITH even further is that ozone treatment is only one part of our overall formulation process.
WRAITH is built around our proprietary 4-Way SENSE Eliminator development platform, which focuses on four areas:
• Scent:
Mineral-based odor-management technology designed to interact with odor-producing compounds.
• UV/Optical:
Research into how treated surfaces interact with ultraviolet light and optical
• Thermal Plume Control:
Research into managing the thermal plume surrounding treated gear, with the goal of reducing the temperature contrast between the hunter’s outer surfaces and the ambient environment.
• Bioelectric:
Exploration of specialized mineral materials and their electrical properties, an emerging research area rather than an established deer-detection pathway.
Instead of developing another product focused exclusively on human odor, we're investigating how a single mineral-based treatment can influence several different material properties.
That's the foundation of WRAITH.
No Generator. No Batteries. No Running Equipment.
WRAITH is a concentrated mineral-based powder that mixes with water and is applied directly to compatible hunting clothing and equipment before entering the field.
No ozone generator operating inside your blind.
No batteries.
No fans.
No electronic equipment running beside you.
Just prepare the formula according to the mixing instructions, apply it to your gear, and allow it to dry before hunting.
Because WRAITH is applied directly to your equipment, your preparation isn't dependent on a generator operating in one location.
And while conventional ozone systems focus primarily on airborne odor management, WRAITH's research and development extends into UV, thermal plume control, and bioelectric material properties.
The Future of Concealment Isn't Another Machine in Your Blind
We believe hunting technology should make the experience better, not more complicated.
Hunters already have enough equipment to manage. They shouldn't need another electronic device running beside them to prepare for a hunt.
WRAITH takes a different approach by combining mineral-based formulation technology, an ozone-treatment manufacturing process, and a broader concealment research strategy.
We still believe in playing the wind, limiting movement, understanding deer behavior, and using quality camouflage.
Those fundamentals will never change.
But the technology hunters use alongside those fundamentals can continue to evolve.
We're not trying to build a better ozone generator. We're developing a different way to use chemistry and mineral science in hunting concealment.
Because the future of hunting technology shouldn't depend on pumping ozone gas into an occupied blind.
